Freedom: Tapping into the Source of Power

The Source that Provides Freedom

Freedom in His Presence - A Studio 1-37 Original ImageDo you ever need a little freedom from the burdens of life? Is the ability to experience a freeing vacation from the woes of the world, perhaps even your personal world, high on your list? Sometimes the world just seems to close in on us and it is during this time that we need to tap into the life source provided to us, so we may experience the freedom we crave.

Freedom means so many things and can vary person to person depending on our circumstances and experiences in life. But overall freedom in its simplest form results in the relief of burdens, pressures, or restraints. To gain or experience freedom though you must have access to power. Thankfully there is a freedom offered fully to everyone on earth, no matter their physical restraints, that is only achieved by tapping into a readily available source of power. Because without a power source, things just remain in the dark.

A Power Source is Necessary

There was a native from a remote mountain village who had the distinct opportunity to visit a large modern city for the first time. He had little money and therefore couldn’t bring home all the wonderful things he viewed. But he was amazed at the electric lights he saw everywhere. He decided to purchase a sack of electric light bulbs and sockets with switches, so he could turn them off and on.

Arriving home, he set about hanging the light bulbs in front of his home and on his trees. Everyone watched him with curiosity and asked him what he was doing, but he just smiled and said, ”Just wait until dark, you will see.” As the day ended and dusk turned to the night he excitedly began to turn on his switches, but nothing happened. He checked to make sure each bulb was secure in the socket and each switch was in the on position. But it made no difference and his disappointment abounded. His neighbors left not understanding what they were to experience or see. He couldn’t understand why his lights from the city didn’t work at his home.

The next day a missionary found the man sitting in dismay and asked if he could help. The native exclaimed how he didn’t understand why his lights didn’t work like they did in the city! The missionary immediately saw the problem and began to explain that for the lights to be seen they had to be connected to the main power source and that without that source of power the lights would simply be an outward decoration but would never dispel the darkness.

The Power of Light Provides Freedom

When there is no source of power the darkness will indeed prevail. It is only through the light of Christ that not only dispels the darkness but in which we find the freedom of life we so desperately desire.

It is only by the great life source of God and His power that we hold salvation. Through our belief and trust in Him, He provides His spirit freeing us from sin and condemnation. As we grow in our trust, we secure love, acceptance, forgiveness, and freedom to live for Him. It is through the source of God’s power that we share with Christ all the rights to God’s resources as His heir. It is through this power we can claim what He provides for us. When we realize all that He offers us through our belief we can find relief in life. This relief allows us to come to His source of great power for freedom giving us hope in a life of good things to come.

For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NLT)

Trusting fully in Christ and knowing that your source of power comes straight from God is the only way to freedom on earth. It does require, however, full belief in your salvation through Christ. This offer of freedom comes only by and through God’s grace and doesn’t require following rules and ceremonies set forth by man.

It is only through God’s power that we are saved through Christ and have the freedom from condemnation and the heavy burden of trying to please Him. It is through His spirit that we can become more like Him. This is the freedom in life that comes only from the power source of God.

The Importance of Connecting to the Correct Power

It is important that we always tap into the correct power source to experience a freeing life. Herbert Jackson, a new missionary, was assigned a car that would not start without a push. After thinking through his problem, he came up with what he thought was an excellent plan. He went to a nearby school and received permission to take some children out of class, to help push his car off each day. As he made his rounds, he would either park on a hill or leave the engine running. He used this procedure for two years.

Due to ill-health, Jackson needed to leave the area and a new missionary came to the station. When Jackson proudly began to explain his arrangement for getting the car started, the new missionary began to look under the hood. Before the explanation was complete, the new missionary interrupted, ”Why, Dr. Jackson, I believe the only trouble is this loose cable!” He gave the cable a twist, stepped into the car, turned the switch, and to Jackson’s astonishment, the engine roared to life. For two years, needless trouble became the routine, but the power was there all the time. It was only a loose connection that prevented the power from working.

Challenges, Motivations, and Comfort

Ephesians 1:19 reminds us the importance to understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for those who believe. As we connect to God it is His power that flows through us providing full freedom of life.

Challenge yourself to find freedom in life through Him by connecting directly to His source of power. Allow your convictions to create your momentum to move forward through life conforming to His ways and not the standards of the world. Be motivated in knowing that where the Spirit of the Lord rests the freedom of life stands. And lastly, find comfort through the belief that the more closely you follow Christ the more you will be like Him tapping directly into the freeing source of the power of life.

Love in Christ,

God has designed the human machine to run on Himself. He, Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn or the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other. That is why it is just no good asking God to make us happy without bothering about religion. God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself because it is not there. There is no such thing.
