The Best Good News!
Do you need some good news? It seems there isn’t much good reported. We are quick, however, to hear the bad, disturbing, and disheartening. So as Easter approaches maybe it is time to hear some good for a change. Good news that creates wonder, amazement, and awe. Easter is often viewed by its celebratory accessories of rabbits, eggs, and bonnets. But if the jubilation of the Good News is to overflow from us, let’s reset our attitude on the joy that the Good News brings instead of the fluff around it. We also mustn’t see the Good News as old news forgetting its impact on our lives today because it’s a story we’ve heard before. So, how do we keep the enthusiasm of the Good News going so we can experience and express the joy of the glory of God all year long?
Easter is a day of emotions and feelings that are more important than understanding the why. Easter changes everything about life. And when everything changes it makes life seem not only new but uncertain. Too often we feebly attempt to explain Easter rather than accept it because Easter shakes the earth up and resets the foundations of life. And like Mary, we run to catch up to keep moving forward toward where Christ is going. We too, want to find the one that makes life new, the one that was raised up for us. Easter is a gift that we did nothing to deserve. This is not only good news but Great Words. And to make it even better this Good News is not for just a select few but everyone!
Easter is for Everyone!
Jesus’ most perfect life of servanthood, His death on the cross, and resurrection is not just a nice story to tell, it is the truth; personally, witnessed and experienced by not only Peter but countless others along with fulfilling Scriptures. With the Good News of Christ’s resurrection, there are no longer any barriers from anyone, knowing Christ. And additionally, there should be no barriers of language, culture, race, geography, social, economic, or educational levels allowed that prevents believers from telling others about the grace of God. This makes Easter not only the Good News to hear and cherish but to share as well.
“He is the one all the prophets testified about, saying that everyone who believes in Him will have their sins forgiven through His name.”Acts 10:43 (NLT)
Accepting and Sharing the Good News
Seeking out God is not enough; people must find Him and that takes someone to point the way to Him. Christ is the way, the truth, and life. (John 14:6) The good message about Christ is that He is for everyone and this knowledge saves us if we continue to believe and faithfully follow it. Because of Easter’s proclamation, we are somebody. Not because of who we are or what we do but by the grace of God. We are Easter people, and we are made new because God gives this to us. The message of Easter brings hope because God loves us and through this, the resurrected Jesus leads us home.
Won’t you accept the challenge of accepting and sharing the Good News of Christ? Allow your convictions to rest fully in the Scriptures and eye-witness accounts that lead you to the cross and home. Allow your motivation to rush with the enthusiasm of the Easter Story so that it overflows with the joy of the glory all the time. And find peace and comfort in knowing that you did not create Easter, but the Good News of Easter creates a new you because of the deep love that the Father holds for you.
Hear and share the Good News, Christ has risen!
Love in Christ,
The gospel of Jesus Christ is good news, glad tidings, and much more. It is the message of salvation as repeatedly announced by Jesus Christ and His apostles and prophets. It is my firm belief that all truth and light originating with God is embraced in the gospel of Jesus Christ.Dieter F. Uchtdorf
