Life’s Guarantees?

Do you like a good guarantee? Are you more likely to take a risk if you know that isn’t going to cost you anything? Whenever I need to make a costly decision, I love knowing that there is a guarantee. It is so much easier for me to take a leap of faith when I know there is a system in place to protect me. This becomes my security much like a down payment, deposit, or a validating signature on a contract. The promise of a guarantee helps me feel secure. They say there are no guarantees in life and there isn’t for life on earth. But there is a guarantee that holds the promises of life issued by God.

God’s guarantee of life says we are blessed, chosen, and part of His family. Isn’t this news wonderful to hear in a world that often reeks of failure and neglect? God’s hope is not just a fingers and toes-crossed wish that is made with closed eyes. It is instead, the purpose behind our life and the only thing that can drive us out of despair and move us to joy. God’s guarantee takes us out of ourselves and into a relationship and a world to live His guarantee aloud. When we set our hope on Christ, we can live a life of hope each day.

God’s guarantee and stamp of assurance come from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit seals that we belong to Him and that He will do what He promises. It is part of our spiritual blessings.

The Spirit is God’s guarantee that He will give us the inheritance He promised and that He has purchased us to be His own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify Him.

Ephesians 1:14 (NLT)

The Transformation that Guarantees Offer

When we accept God’s guarantee we are understanding that it is His power that works in us to transform us now. It is through this knowledge that we can live lives of confidence knowing that today’s good experiences are only a small taste of the total change we will experience in eternity. Through accepting the love of God, we understand that the Holy Spirit guarantees that we belong to God and will receive all His benefits. We are guaranteed that salvation is ours today but when Christ returns, we will receive much more.

To accept the guarantee that God offers each of us requires us to take the responsibility of identifying ourselves as His faithful servants and to let others know that we are His. This provides that the full healing process will take place completely in Christ’s presence. We are reminded of Him through scripture and when we feel the conviction of sin. Other reminders come when we retrain from selfish behavior or are prompted to love. All of these things give us evidence that He is present in our lives and that we are being made whole.

Accepting the Guarantee and its Benefits

When we accept Christ and receive the Holy Spirit, He becomes part of us in the beginning and continues to stay with us through the transformation process even when we deal with the aches and pains of life on earth. It is during all of these things that we must continue to trust in God and His total renovation of our body and soul is in progress. Furthermore, it is through all of this that we hold onto the hope and the guarantee that one day we will receive our inheritance that God has put aside for us.

Won’t you accept the guarantee that God offers you through the Holy Spirit? Allow your convictions to take you on a lifetime journey of hope. Seek and find your motivation through the only one that provides life eternal. Lastly, find comfort in knowing that even today you are being transformed for a new and perfect life with Christ.

Love in Christ,

E.J.
