Where the Light is Better!
As spring comes to life and the warmer weather rapidly approaches with great light the outside seems to beckon. The birds and blooms seem to agree with the rising season as buds and shoots of green rapidly open daily and the birds praise in song their delight. There is always a lifting joy as the darkness of winter rises into the light of spring. It is clear to see the hope of life as the light is stronger and brighter in this renewing season.
The definition and details of things are clearer in the beaming rays of light. This is something I am really in tune with as I get older. Sometimes I just need the brighter light in order to see better, much like the searching man.Â
He stood near a lamp-post in the dark obviously looking for something. A stranger saw him from a distance and as he approached asked the man what was he looking for. The man replied without looking up, ”My watch.” Eager to help, the stranger asked, ”Where were you standing when you dropped it.” The man continued to search diligently as he pointed a finger in the distance and said, ”Over there somewhere.” The stranger looked at the man incredulously and said, ”Well then sir, why are you looking for it here?” Finally looking up in frustration and meeting the stranger’s eye, he replied testily, ”Because sir, the light is better here!”
Seeing in the Light
Objects aren’t the only things easier to see in the light. The perspectives of life also shine brighter in the light. Darkness can’t exist in even the slightest presence of a single ray. For tiny pieces of light diminish the darkness that often accompanies life. As we enter the beginning of Lent; a time of repentance, and preparation before Easter, the opportunity presents itself to study and reflect upon the true transformation of life because of God’s great light. Jesus is the light of hope for all mankind that God sent into this world to expel the darkness of sin. Because God is light it is only He that can guide us out of the darkness we are in.
This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in Him at all. 1 John 1:5 (NLT)
This verse lies within a group of verses that teach about Living in the Light. By placing a full trust in Christ and developing a relationship in His full light you can come from the darkness into eternal light. But living in the light is not just for the future of eternity for living in the light can change your life on earth now.
The Freedom of Life in the Light
There is a great freedom in living in the light for by recognizing that light represents truth you realize that the light shines on all things, good or bad. The key to living in the light is developing a relationship with God. A relationship where there is no hiding. It is acknowledging that God knows all because He is the light that sees all. There is no corner of darkness in life that God is not aware of. He waits for you to acknowledge this to Him so He can flood that corner with His light of love. It is important to stay in the light of the one who is the most Holy, fully perfect, and holds the truth for all. Only through Him can you can be guided from the darkness of sin because sin cannot exist in the great presence of God.
By developing a full relationship with God in His all-encompassing light progress develops creating a path from the darkness to eventually live in the eternal light. This is a long process that only fully manifests itself upon life in the eternal. It is important to strive to stay away from sin knowing that it is necessary in order to hold a relationship with God. He will help you as you come to Him in the light of all His goodness. It is through Him that the darkness dispels and His light can shine through you.
God’s Light will See You Through
God’s light is the only light that will get you through the darkness of earth and to life eternal. When you are surrounded by adversity or problems it is important to look to the light. God’s light will overcome even the darkest of times. For when you allow even the smallest of His beams to enter your life the darkness fades.
So today find yourself challenged to live fully in the light avoiding the darkness. See that the light of the world is Christ who in His perfect holiness allows you to live in the light too. Experience the freedom and release that living in the light creates within you and find comfort in knowing that His light is the hope of all things good in life.
Love in Christ,
It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.
