Real Things Only, No Hacks Allowed!

Life Hacks and Fakes

Hacks vs. the Real Thing - A Studio 1-37 Original ImageDo you have trouble recognizing the real thing over a hack? There seems to be a hack for everything these days as it is quite popular to find hacks to solve almost every problem of life. In the past, the term hack wasn’t really used to describe a good thing but lately it appears to be touted as the solution to make issues, just short of the real thing, easy and cheap. You can find a ”hack” for everything from recipes, cleaning, to even replacements for expensive equipment.

Hacks are great in saving time and money but there are just some things that require the real thing. For example, you probably don’t want a medical hack, an accounting hack, or a love hack. No one needs a surface love like the girl who asks, ”Do you love me? Would you die for me?” With the boy who replies, ”Yes, dear, but mine is an undying love.”

When we speak of love we want a deeper commitment not a fake. You certainly don’t want the veiled but fake love like the girl who regretted breaking her engagement and wrote this letter:

My Dearest Bill,

There are simply no words that can ever express the great unhappiness I’ve felt since breaking our engagement. Please say you’ll take me back. No one could ever take your place in my heart, so please forgive me. I love you, I love you, I love you!

Yours forever,

Sue Ellen

P.S. Congratulations on winning that lottery money!

When Only the Real Thing Will Do!

No one wants a hack or fake love, for love is the greatest of all things and what makes life the reason to live. Real love is of greatest importance, worthwhile, and requires genuine exploration in the slow lane. There is no greater real love than the love of God. Love explains who God is and He is indeed the real thing. With real love there is no fear to hold onto for His love secures you and allows you to release the need to constantly seek the world for reassurance and self-worth.

This is real love ”“ not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

1 John 4:10 (NLT)

There is no greater depth of love than the love that God has for you. God so loves you that He created you but yet allows you to freely choose Him. He sent His son, Christ, to die because His love is so strong He offered a solution to the problem of sin. It is because of this; eternal life is possible. Let this thought sink in;

God loves you so much He wants to do so forever.

Committing your life to anyone can seem difficult especially other fallible humans. If you have ever been burned by love you may be hesitate to commit because you are unsure whether it is the real thing. Real love experienced with other people is often confusing, seemingly elusive, and without guarantees. But the love of God is clearly guaranteed and proven.

But Is It Real?

Many writers claim they have created formulas to tell if a love is the real thing. Once such writer is Jennie Swenson, who wrote 5 Signs Your Love is the Real Thing. I challenge you to take her thoughts and insert God.

Seeing It All ”“ God’s Sees it all. He sees all of your good but He also sees all of your bad. Yet, even with this, He still loves you and continues to want a relationship with you by offering a solution to the separation that sin creates.

Feeling Lucky ”“ It is beyond lucky that describes the love of God because God provides a way for you to secure your future. Lucky is the life provided by God’s solution for reconciliation with Him.

Sharing Life Together ”“ God so desires to share your life. He wants to have a relationship with you and in turn wants you to include Him by sharing all your thoughts, questions, and experiences.

Growing with Him ”“ God will bring out the best in you as He complements your life. He calms you, releases your fears, and His love pushes you to keep trying. It is only through Him that your best achievements come through for committed to you is He no matter your faults.

Others See it and Know ”“ When you have God in your life not only are you aware that it is special, others around you know it too. Others see His light within you and the overall peace that He affords. This is when you take His love and exhibit it to others allowing love to express itself through your actions.

Transforming the Dead into Living

Christiaan Barnard, a South African surgeon, performed the world’s first human heart transplant operation in 1967. Stories circulate reporting that after surgery Dr. Barnard carried the patient’s old heart in a plastic box to show him. As the two men examined the scars and issues of the dead useless heart, Dr. Barnard informed the man that he was the first person in the history of humankind to sit and look at his own dead heart.

Looking physically at our dead hearts is neither desired or probable for most people, yet figuratively dead hearts are viewable for reflections and examination with God.

God is the only surgeon that can replace an entirely dead heart with a transformed one in an individual. It is this transplant through only His real love that matters. He takes the dead heart of anger, guilt, judgement, pride, and a plethora of other negative sins and transforms or transplants it with His love resulting in peace, joy, and wholeness.

Real love is obtainable through faith and trust in God. It is by depending wholly upon Him and recognizing that only through His son the solution reveals itself to resolve your sins and be right with Him. God’s overflowing love secures you eternally and spills from you allowing you to share His love with others. Where other humans fail His love endures above all things even through your continued mistakes. For ultimately He loves you so deeply and real that He is willing to express it forever.

Love in Christ,
